PALM HARBOR, FL - Forrest Elton Carmichael, 93, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, July 29, 2014. He was born in Mattawamkeag, Maine.
Forrest was educated in schools in Quebec and Maine. He graduated from Brownville Junction High School, attended Gorham Normal School and graduated from the University of Maine at Orono. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Forrest retired from the University of Maine where he had managed the greenhouses and taught floral arrangement. He managed theaters throughout the state of Maine. He was a former member of the Brownville Junction Methodist Church and loved doing needlepoint, gardening and listening to classical music.
Forrest was predeceased by his father, DeForrest William Carmichael; mother, Mary (Little) Bryant; stepfather, Temple Bryant; sisters, Eileen Carmichael Malouf and Mary Estella Carmichael Giroux and brothers, Cecil and Herbert Bryant. He is survived by his brother, John Bryant and his wife, Joyce, of Dunedin, FL; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be no services. In support of life, Forrest donated his body to advance medicine through Science Care, a whole body donor program.
