- Floyd Smith, of Lowell, Maine, residing in St. Petersburg, FL, passed away on December 17th, 2016 peacefully in his sleep. Although he moved to Connecticut in 1952 to raise his family and find steady employment, eventually retired from Sikorsky Aircraft, he always considered Maine his home and longed to move back there. He spent many years as a "snow bird" living between St. Petersburg and Lowell, eventually settling in St. Petersburg for health reasons. He enjoyed Country Music, Dancing, Connecting with Family and Friends, Never forgot anyone's birthday, and was the Family Historian.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Hersey Smith and Georgia (Ballard) Smith, sisters; Colleen Georgie Smith and Colleen (Smith) Comstock, and brother; Gerald "Bud" Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years; Cleo E. Smith, sister; Coris (Smith) Betters, children; Sharon Olson; Brenda Letourneau, Richard Smith and Jeffrey Smith, grandchildren; Kelley Schafer, Coleen Hill, Courtney Smith, Evan Smith, and J.C. Letourneau, great-grandchildren; Craig Schafer, Nicole Arrington, and Colby Hill, and great-great grandchild, Evie Arrington, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
A Memorial and Graveside Service will be held in Lowell, Maine in late Spring.
