- Florentine 'Dee Dee' Page, 87, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 21, 2016, at her long-time home, her final wish. She was born in St. John on December 9, 1928, the eldest child of Robert and Adina (Johnson) Sturgeon.
Florentine prided herself on her cleaning skills at the many places she worked. Up until her passing, she worked two days per week at the railroad station in Masardis (formerly Bangor and Aroostook Railroad) where her late husband had worked for 41 years. Until her retirement in 2004, she worked for several years at Four Seasons Inn and Ashland Town office. She was deeply devoted to her church, Ashland Apostolic Pentecostal Church, and volunteered at the Ashland Food Pantry. She was content to take long rides through northern Maine towns, enjoyed gardening, and had an extensive collection of lawn ornaments.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise Neal of Presque Isle; her long-time companion, Albin "Allen" Sherkness of Masardis; two brothers, Robert Sturgeon II and his wife Betty of Ashland; Dwight Sturgeon Sr. of Presque Isle; two granddaughters, Dina Page of Bangor and Michaela Neal of Presque Isle; and several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Florentine was predeceased by her husband Wallace "Pete" Page, her daughter Diane McPherson, and her two sisters Nathalie Landry and Evangeline Sturgeon.
A memorial service will be held graveside at Ashland Municipal Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, with Pastor Karen McDonald officiating. To share condolences online, please visit www.LajoieFuneralHome.com
