VAN BUREN - Fernand E. Thibodeau, 82, died unexpectedly December 12, 2015 with his loving wife at his side. He was born May 8, 1933 in Van Buren, a son of the late Adolph and Modeste (Martin) Thibodeau.
As a young man he loved working on the farm. In later years he worked as a plumbing and heating technician with Loring Air Force Base and Rick's Plumbing and Heating, until his retirement in 2005. A man of faith, he was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bruno-St. Remi Church and a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, #1635, Van Buren. He was a "Jack-of-all-Trades" and enjoyed working around the house. A lifetime member of Pinerunners ATV Club, he was an avid ATV and snowmobile rider. He greatly enjoyed and cherished family celebrations and gatherings, proudly participated in the family's milestones in life and was always ready to have a bit of fun! Though a humble and quiet gentleman, he was known as a man of his word, always giving his best effort in all things. His strength of spirit, steadfast love, and sense of humor graced us all.
He loved much and was very much loved by: his wife of 63 years, Edwina (Lefrancois) Thibodeau of Van Buren; a son, Michael Thibodeau and his wife Kelly of Freeport; five daughters, Robertine "Bobbie" Morrow and her husband David of Presque Isle, Claudette Cyr and her husband Gilbert of Auburn, Linda Chalou of Presque Isle, Marlene Thibodeau and her husband Edward Johnston of Fayette, and Nola Thibodeau and her companion Steve Lapierre of Hamlin; two brothers, Martin Thibodeau and his wife Murielle of Rockport and Rev. Reynold Thibodeau of Middletown, CT; three sisters, Mildred Soucy of Fort Kent, Verna Paradis and her husband Norman, and Theresa Danielson and her husband Carl, all of Connecticut; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Fernand is predeceased by a granddaughter Marlee Johnston, a brother Rudolph Thibodeau, and a brother-in-law Lionel Soucy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren.
