Van Buren - Fernand E. Rossignol, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 14, 2017 at a Van Buren healthcare facility. He was born September 9, 1927 in Van Buren, a son of the late Leon and Angelique (Michaud) Rossignol.
He worked many years for former Loring Air Force Base and for several area contractors. Even after retirement he continued to purchase and rehabilitate homes in Van Buren and surrounding areas. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and daughters at the family camp but, never to have idle hands, busied himself with working on many tasks around the camp and his home.
He is survived by: his wife of 69 years, Christine (Picard) Rossignol of Van Buren; four daughters, Sandra Levesque and her husband Ron, Karen Morrow and her husband Carl, all of Van Buren, Darlene Rossignol and her wife Claudine St-Onge of St. Jacques, NB, Canada, and Marylene Rossignol of Biddeford; four brothers, John Rossignol and his wife Mona, Percy Rossignol and his wife Claudette, Philip Rossignol and his wife Normande, all of Van Buren, and Kenneth Rossignol and his wife Florence of E. Hartford, CT; four sisters, Lucille Scott of Van Buren, Claire Charette and her husband Darwin of Presque Isle, Bernadette Rossignol of Washburn, and Virginia Lucia and her husband Don of Lynn, MA; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Fernand is predeceased by a daughter, Gail Parker, and seven siblings, infant Marie Rossignol, Eugene Rossignol, Rene Rossignol, Delina Ouellette, Anita Piscatello, Leona Tardif, and Roselle Ouellette.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Wednesday morning 9-10:30 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Burial will be in Grand River Cemetery.
