Fern's Story

ASHLAND - Fern B. Charette, 89, died January 3, 2014 at Eagle Mercy Home. She was born February 24, 1924 in Ashland, a daughter of the late Charles and Melvina (Burby) Goslin. On October 18, 1942, she married Victor Charette. They were married 38 years before his passing in 1980.

Fern loved to cook, especially her potato donuts. She loved gardening, fishing, camping and spending time with her family.

She is survived by: seven children, Edwin Charette and his wife Nancy, Wayne Charette and his wife Joyce, Patrick Charette and his wife Donna, Nancy Saucier, Vickie Tilley and her husband Gerald, all of Ashland, Charlene Veilleux and her partner Mickey Argraves of Castle Hill and Joyce Hitchcock and her husband Jim of Presque Isle; eighteen grandchildren; and many great and great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Fern is predeceased by: her husband, Victor Charette; a son, Dale Charette; 2 grandchildren, Susan Berry and Dale Charette, Jr.; four brothers; four sisters; and a son-in-law, Frederick Saucier. The family wants to thank everyone at Eagle Lake Mercy Home. You were so kind to mom and her family, especially mom's best friend, Pauline Clark, who watched over mom.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at St. Mark's Cemetery, Ashland, with David Thorniley, Fern's grandson, from Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Ghent, NY, officiating.
