Evelyn's Story

BANGOR - On June 8, 2016 the gates of heaven opened and welcomed Evelyn Ricker England home. She was born on January 14, 1918 in Perry, Maine. She was the daughter of John Gibson Ricker and Thursa Leighton.

Evelyn's priority was always her family and home. She loved spending time with her sister Beulah at Sebago Lake and family gatherings. Her cookie jar was always full and she always made the pies for Thanksgiving. Evelyn and husband Maurice built a home in Bangor in 1948 and she lovingly lived there for 68 years until just a few days before her passing at age 98.

She is survived by her siblings: Beulah Stone and Dexter Ricker; daughters: Betty Von Tobel and husband Ernie, Debra Scully and husband Michael; grandchildren: Steven England and wife Cindi, Alan England and wife Terri, Debra Smith, David Smith and wife Heidi and Bobby Mayo; great grandchildren: Darren England, Matthew England, Jennifer Lynch and husband Jima, Paige England, Brooke England, Erica England, Alexa England, Benjamin Smith and Hannah Smith; great great grandchildren: Ashleigh Lynch, Alaila Lynch and Kaiden Smith; many loving nieces and nephews; her friend and caregiver Mary Tinto, and special friends: Anna Black, Berna Davenport and Natalie Lancaster.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Maurice A. England, son Jon Raye England and his wife Shirley England; siblings: Francis, Roland, David, Ruth and Mary; and special companion Charles Tinto, Sr.

A graveside service is to be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Pine Grove Cemetery, outer Hammond Street, Bangor, ME. A private family and friends reception will be held at Evelyn's home, 26 Rutland Street, Bangor following the service. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Evelyn's name to your favorite charity.
