- Evelyn A. "Eve" Ellis, 77, died May 12, 2017 in Boston after a brief illness. She was born Nov. 23, 1939 in San Francisco, CA, the daughter of Edward and Claire (Bierwith) Kassa.
Eve, as she was known, lived in California and Texas before settling in Maine. Eve met and married Wilson C. Ellis, Jr. and they drove cross country when they moved to Maine in 1987. Eve enjoyed drawing and painting. She mastered the art of crocheting, making many beautiful afghans, blankets, bedspreads and crafting with yarn. Eve made new friends in Maine and special friends that have since moved away and she will be missed by her extended family at Orono Commons.
Surviving are her daughter, Rhonda Planka of California and a special nephew, Gilbert Hanaike. Eve was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Albert Planka and her husband, Wilson C. Ellis, Jr.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Ellis-Trafton Cemetery, Ashland, with Rev. Nehru Savayaria, parochial vicar of Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Mark's Catholic Church, presiding. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer.
