Evelyn's Story

CORINNA - Evelyn G. Brooks, 96, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 5, 2015 at a Dexter nursing home. She was born May 22, 1919 in Boylston, MA, the daughter of Herbert and Grace (Starbard) Brooks. Moving to Maine at the age of 7, Evelyn spent most of her life in Corinna. She graduated from Corinna Union Academy as valedictorian of the Class of 1938.

Evelyn was employed at local woolen mills in Corinna and Dexter for most of her adult life. After retiring, she could be found working in her flower and vegetable gardens, playing her piano, or helping her friends out. Evelyn was the secretary for the Corinna Union Academy Alumni Association for many years.

The Coulimore children along with Esther and Brent Ireland would like to thank Pine Tree Hospice, Dexter Health Care, Dr. Leslie Fernow and New Beginnings for their care of our "Auntie Evelyn" these past few years, with special thanks to nurse Robin and hospice volunteer Doris for their care of Evelyn during this time.

A graveside funeral and committal service will be held at 10 A.M. Tuesday, June 16th at Morse's Corner Cemetery, Corinna. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pine Tree Hospice, 883 W. Main Street, Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal Funeral Chapel, Corinna. Those who wish may leave written tributes at www.CrosbyNeal.com
