- Evangeline P. Cunningham (Van) passed away June 3, 2017 at a Bangor Healthcare Facility after a long illness.
Van was born in Bangor October 24, 1927 the youngest of seven children born to Lina (Monk) and Alexander Cunningham. After attending Bangor Schools and graduating from Bangor High School she moved to and worked in Boston, Ma. In Boston she became a member of the Catholic Church and joined the order of Franciscan Sisters. While in this order she attended college earning her B.A. and her Master's Degree in English and Math. Over the years she taught First Grade through High School in Gallup, NM, Omaha, NB, Chicago, Il. and St. Louis, Mo. Van was known for her love and kindness to all children. She was highly respected in the teaching profession and continually heard from her past students, parents and associates.
Van was predeceased by her parents, brothers George, Irving & Francis as well as her sister Irene Estabrook.
She is survived by her Sister Ida E. Sites of Bangor, brother and his wife Louis and Charlotte of Va. as well as many special nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held at a later date.
