- Eugene Hershel Stoddard, 80, passed away May 25, 2017, at a Bangor hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 15, 1936, in Danforth, Maine, the son of Leroy and Cora (Anderson) Stoddard.
He is survived by five sons John Sibley and wife Kim, Rick Stoddard and wife Grace, Wallace Stoddard and wife Crystal, Scott Stoddard and wife Chrissy, and Kevin Stoddard and fiancée Torrie; two daughters, Lorrie Shay and husband Larry, and Ann Kennedy and fiancé Steve; many grandkids and great-grandkids, a special companion, Mary Wiley and brother-in-law, Charles Simon and several nieces and nephews. Gene was predeceased by his wife Fern Stoddard, nine brothers and one sister.
Gene worked for many years in the woods for Harry Kinney. He loved to dance and going to the Millyard for coffee with the Breakfast Club. He loved to joke and make everyone he came across laugh. He always enjoyed spending time with family and always enjoyed being with grandkids and great-grandkids.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Clay Funeral Home-Bartlett Chapel, 24 Houlton Road, Danforth, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 28, with Frank Godly officiating. Interment will follow at Eaton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to John Sibley, Sr., P.O. Box 76, Stillwater, ME 04489 to help defray expenses.
