Eugene's Story

MILBRIDGE - Eugene "Gene" Eldon Pinkham, 89, husband of Barbara (Dorr) Pinkham, returned to his heavenly home December 15, 2014 in Ellsworth. He was born March 14, 1925 in Milbridge, son of Russell F. and Mary A. (Beal) Pinkham.

Gene served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed throughout the years as a truck driver and lobster fisherman. He enjoyed playing cribbage, raking blueberries, handing out butterscotch candies and a good debate. He enjoyed the fellowship of his church families at Maine Coast Baptist, Stuben Union, Faith Bible, Open Bible and Bangor Baptist throughout his Christian life.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Barbara Pinkham of Milbridge; a son, Dennis Pinkham and wife, Cheryl of Bangor; sisters, Bessie Snyder and Beverly Roach; many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, church family and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents; his son, Stanley Pinkham and daughter, Ruth Roy; sister, Susie Fickett; brothers, Jim, Arlo and Edwin "Pud" Pinkham.

A celebration honoring Gene's life will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, December 19 at Maine Coast Baptist Church, 867 Bangor Road, Ellsworth, with Pastor Gerry Dill officiating. A gathering will be held at the church fellowship hall following the service.
