CHARLESTON - Eugene F. "Dean" Knights, 79, died Dec. 5, 2014 at his home in Charleston. He was born Oct. 14, 1935 in Presque Isle, the son of Frank R. and Dorothy G. (Mailman) Knights.
Eugene attended schools in Presque Isle and attended the Arundel Pentecostal Church. He was a sign painter, an artist and a musician. Eugene won numerous country music awards. He opened a show for Dolly Parton and Porter Wagner in 1976 and he won the Mike Dean Award from WPOR with Dean Knights and the Silver Shadows Band.
Surviving are nine children, Beverly Kyle and her husband, Rick of Casco, Dean Knights and his wife, Cindy of Lisbon, Belinda Knights and Bruce Smith of Lincoln, Billy Knights and his wife, Chris of Oxford, Steven Knights and his wife, Rose of Winslow, Jesse Knights and his wife, Jessica of Steep Falls, Tammy Treadwell of Hermon, Dottie Calciano and her husband, Rob of Glennville, GA and John Knights and his wife, Mandi of Parsonsfield; 21 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; Evelyn Knights of Charleston. He was predeceased by his parents, a stepson, Jr White, a grandson, Richard Hammond, III , the mother of his children and dear friend, Abbie Brown and by his only sibling, Frank R. Knights, Jr.
Services will be private. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor.
