Ethel's Story

MILLINOCKET - Ethel M. Duperry died peacefully on December 1, 2015 in Millinocket after a brief illness. She was born in Lubec on August 5, 1925 to Kathleen and Leon Manchester.

A graduate of Lubec High School and Husson College, she worked at Lincoln Pulp & Paper and Great Northern Paper Company Woodlands. In addition to working full-time and raising 4 children, she made quilts and sewn toys for her family. She also loved to dance. Ethel took great pride in the fact that she lived on her own for 38 years, right up until the end. She lived and died on her own terms.

She is survived by her daughter Margie and Peter King of Millinocket; son Fritz and Connie Appleby of Pownal: daughter Lynn Appleby of Newport, Vermont, and her growing family. She was predeceased by her daughter Sue Hobbs and great-granddaughters Beth and Amanda.
