BANGOR AND OLD TOWN - Esther Murphy Davis, 78, passed away peacefully, June 12, 2014 at Winterberry Heights in Bangor. She was carried home by the angel who watched over her during her 3 years at Winterberry Heights. Esther was born June 23, 1935, in Enfield to parents Lottie Faulkner Murphy and Ronald Murphy.
She grew up in the town of Olamon with her 16 siblings and extended family. At the age of 18, Esther moved to Old Town where she met her husband of 58 years, Leland Davis. Old Town was their home for 50 years where they enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Esther was predeceased by her parents, husband, and 9 siblings; Dorothy Smith, Alma Murphy, Beatrice Calhoun, Evelyn Tourtillotte, Loretta Haskell, Floyd Murphy, Ronald Murphy, Charles Murphy, and Vernon Murphy.
Esther is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Michael Bradstreet of Alton; and daughter, Cindy Davis of Delray Beach, Florida. Esther is also survived by her beloved granddaughter, Kailee Bradstreet of Carlsbad, California; sisters, Charlotte McPheters of Old Town, Mariam Gilman of Old Town, Ruth Reynolds of Lincoln, and Mildred Savage of Lincoln, Maine; brothers, Stanley Murphy of Rome, New York, Gerald Murphy of Yarmouth, and Francis Murphy of Brewer, Maine. Esther truly loved all her many nieces and nephews who had a special place in her heart throughout her life.
Esther will be remembered for her kind heart, giving nature, a warm smile, and always lending a helping hand. She enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, listening to music, and singing with her wonderful friends at Winterberry Heights.
A celebration of her life will be held on her birthday, June 23rdat 11 a.m. at Birmingham Funeral Home; 438 Main Street, Old Town. A burial at Forest Hill Cemetery will follow the service where she will rest with her husband. Following the burial family and friends are invited to gather and share memories at the family home in Old Town.
