Ernie's Story

MEDWAY - Ernie E. Cyr, Sr., 71, went to be with his Precious Savior in the New Jerusalem, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, November 17, 2015. He was born September 16, 1944 in Island Falls, the son of Francis L. and Albertine E. (Michaud) Cyr.

Ernie was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and worked at the Great Northern Paper Company in Millinocket for several years. He enjoyed singing and listening to music, cutting wood, fishing and hunting, but most importantly; giving advice - asked for or not! He loved the smell of blueberries and potato blossoms, but most especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Donna E. (Lyle) Cyr of Medway; three children, Tanya Jones and her husband Craig of Medway, Ernie Cyr, Jr. and his wife Mary of Milton, Florida, and Tammy Radel and her husband Joshua of Surry; twelve grandchildren - the pride and joy of his life - Danielle and Jon Chiasson, Jacqueline, Brendan, Aidan, Therese, Balin and Genevieve Cyr, and Noah, Isaiah, Abigail, and Luke Radel; nine siblings, Francis Cyr and wife Sally of Island Falls, Carolyn MacDougall and husband John of Hollis Center, Cheyenne Palmer and husband Greg of Houlton, Ricky Cyr and wife Jeanine of Moro, Gene Cyr and wife Violet of Berwick, Dale Anne Ivey of Houlton, Vona Libby and husband David of Mt. Chase, Fred Cyr of Litchfield, and Samantha Robinson and husband Ronald of Benedicta; a sister in law Cathy Duffy of Benedicta; a brother in law, Louis Perrault of East Millinocket; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Ernie was predeceased by a brother, Randy Cyr, and a sister, Una Perrault.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 4-6 P.M. Sunday, November 22 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Monday, November 23 at the Millinocket Church of the Nazarene, Forest Avenue, Millinocket. Committal services, with military honors, will be held 2:30 P.M. at the Grindstone Road Cemetery.
