Eric's Story

Ashland - Eric Jan Holden, a forester and longtime resident of Ashland died in Bangor on Saturday, July 16, 2016 after a terminal illness. Through his company, Aroostook Timberlands, he was the town forester for Ashland (1988-2013) and Mapleton and worked for a number of towns and landowners in Aroostook County. Born on November 14, 1941 in Farmington, he grew up in Spencer and Jackman. He earned his degree at the U of M in Orono and served his country in Southeast Asia in the mid-sixties. He was a long time member of the Ashland Town Council.
Eric is survived by his brother Laurie of Phoenix, AZ and his niece and nephew, Sally Ann and C. C. Holden, respectively, of New Jersey and cousins in Jackman and Waterville; the Moores and Worsters. He will be sadly missed by good friends, Laurie, Stan, Larry, Randy, Sue and family.
A celebration of Eric's life will be held on August 20, 2016 at 11am at the Ashland Rec Center with a lunch following, and also on August 27, 2016 at 11am at the Jackman Congregational Church, with a light lunch following at the American Legion Hall. A private burial will follow.
