KENDUSKEAG - Elwin V. Rozelle, 92, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2015 at a Bangor healthcare facility.
Elwin was born Nov. 7th 1922 in Charleston, Me, the son of Ozzie T. and Arlene Duran Rozelle.
Elwin graduated for Higgins Classical Institute, Charleston in 1942. From a young age he was a member of 4-H and became interested in dairy cows. He then started the Roz-Dale farm in Charleston with just 10 Guernsey cows. Shortly thereafter he met and married his wife Doris Curtis from Dorchester Mass. Together they raised 4 children on the family farm. In 1968, trucking cows and all, he moved his farm to Kenduskeag. where it is still operating today. Shortly after this move, Elwin had one of the largest registered Guernsey herds in the state with a total of 91 cows. He and his wife were also members of the Golden Guernsey Club.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, wife, Doris; sisters Marion and Charlotte, brother-in-law Joseph Hagelin, son-in-laws Danny, Jim and Bob and grand-daughter Heidi.
He is survived by sons, Curtis and wife Barbara, Peter and wife Barbara all of Kenduskeag, daughter Leslie of Holden and Fla., and daughter Cathy and her husband Gerald of Zephyrhills, Fl. Brother-in-law Harold Harvey of Florida. Nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
At his request there will be no service. A private interment will be held later this spring at Kenduskeag Village Cemetary.
