BREWER - Elsie Murphy, 91, died June 10, 2014, at a Bangor nursing center after a period of declining health. She was born June 16, 1922 in Wallagrass, the daughter of Paul and Tillie (Madore) Ayotte.
Elsie worked at Emple Knitting Mill, as well as area shoe factories for many years. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing cribbage, board games and was a member of the Brewer Eagle's Club. Elsie was a person of devout faith and was a member and communicant of St Joseph's Church in
Brewer for many years.
Surviving are one daughter, Diana Perry of Hartland; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Valla Hall, Shirley Ethier and Charlotte Dell; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George Murphy; two sons, Leonild Murphy Sr. and Richard Murphy; a granddaughter, Christine Murphy; two brothers and four sisters. The family would like to sincerely thank Eastside Rehab and Beacon Hospice for the caring and support they provided.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, June 18, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Brewer, with burial following at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. Arrangements by Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer .
