Old Town - Ellen T. Stebbins Stevens, 74, died December 13, 2016, at a Portland hospital following a brief illness. She was born February 20, 1942, in Boston, a daughter of Mary Ellen (Caroll) Colburn and Caroll William Colburn.
Ellen loved spending time out at camp on Pushaw lake with friends and family. Talking long walks with her dog Moxie (she passed away a few years ago) and her current dog Millie. She was famous for her fudge which she shared with many people from the firefighters in town to her family. She made friends everywhere she went and no one was a stranger for long. Missed by her many friends both out at camp and in town. She will be remembered as a loving mother, wife and grandmother.
She was predeceased by first husband of 36 years Roger Stebbins and her second husband of 12 years Charles Stevens and a daughter Cynthia Stebbins Palmieri. She is survived by daughters Susan Stebbins and her wife Alison MacDonald of Northampton, MA, and Michelle Quinn and her husband Robert of Bridgewater, MA; son-in-law Joseph Palmieri; Grandchildren Natalie Scruggs, Samantha Scruggs, Robert Balin Antonia MacDonald, Elly MacDonald, Joseph Palmieri, Jennifer Palmieri, Jillian Palmieri, Micheal Quinn, Jessica Quinn; Great granddaughter: Lucina Mitchell; brothers David Colburn of Bridgewater, MA, Kenneth Colburn and his wife Marie of Bridgewater, MA, and Stephen Colburn of California.
Many nieces, nephews and all of her wonderful friends in Maine, special friends David and Ann Soule, Kathy Avery, and of course her wonderful dog Millie.
Many thanks to all the wonderful friends both out at camp and in town who made her and her dog Millie's life both easier and happier.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where friends may visit from 12 noon until time of service.
