BATH AND SAN ANTONIO, FLA. - Ellen M. DeLong died June 19, 2016, with her loving husband and five children by her side. She was born in Presque Isle, Maine on August 9, 1940, a daughter of Harold and Helena Lidstone Marsh.
She attended Bath schools and graduated from Morse High School in 1958. She attended Aroostook State College and graduated from the University of Southern Maine at Portland. She was a substitute teacher and tutor. She worked as a bookkeeper for Jackson Electric and Gilman Electric in Bath, Maine. She retired as a bookkeeper and office manager from Consolidated Electrical Distributors of Brunswick, Maine in 1999. She was also bookkeeper of the family owned Airport operation and Merrymeeting Aviation Inc. for 20 years in Bowdoinham, Maine.
She had a sense of humor that could make you laugh, cry or just plain make you mad as you could be and laugh again. She was liked and loved by everyone that knew her. She was a wonderful funny lady who always knew how to make you smile. She was an amazing person and a great friend to so many people. She was one in a million.
She served as a President of the Emblem Club at the Bath Elks Post #934; she was an active member of the Tampa Bay Quilting Club and Sunshine Committee. Her many hobbies included NASCAR, Mahjong, Hand and Foot, quilting, knitting, crocheting, bowling, reading and casino visits. She enjoyed entertaining and socializing with friends at the Tampa Bay Clubhouse.
Ellen and her first husband, Richard "Woody" Woodman, were married and had four children. He died in 1971. Her mother, Helena Lidstone Marsh also died in 1971; father, Harold Huntington Marsh, died in 1978; and sister-in-law, Carol Orr Marsh, in 2014.
Ellen is survived by her loving husband, Wayne DeLong of 43 years; a brother, Richard "Shorty" Marsh; a son, Richard and his wife, Becky Woodman; four daughters, Merrilee and her husband, Timothy Griffith, Audrey and her husband, Phil Latella, Lisa Woodman, Doris DeLong and her husband, David Gagne; a stepson, Dean Delong and his wife, Christie Chapman DeLong; 13 grandchildren, Crystal Latella Rossignol and husband, Joshua, Jessica Griffith, Philip "Tony" Latella IV, Patrick Griffith, Brian Griffith, Richard Woodman Jr., Delia Croswell, Julia Griffith, Andrew Croswell, Amanda Gagne, Casey Woodman, Macie Gagne, Ryan Woodman; one great-grandson, Wakelan; and several nieces and nephews.
Ellen's family and several of her close friends held a Service and Celebration of Life in her community: The Tampa Bay Golf and Country Club on Tuesday June 21, 2016.
A Service and Celebration of life will be held late July in Bath, Maine.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in Ellen's memory, may be sent to Morse High School Alumni Association, 309 Old Stage Rd, Arrowsic, Maine.
