Elizabeth's Story

JONESPORT AND OLD TOWN - Elizabeth Harriett (Gray) Emerson, 94, our precious mother and grandmother left for her journey home on July 27, 2015. She passed away peacefully after a short illness in her loving daughter Annette's arms at a Bangor hospital. Our special angel is now being serenaded by angels in heaven. We wonder if Muma will teach the angels to yodel. We made sure Muma left will plenty of Hershey kisses and we are sure a Hershey kiss will float down every once in a while to keep us in line. She was born on November 5, 1920, the youngest of eight children of Marcellus Jeremiah Gray and Florence Jane (Coffin) Gray.

Elizabeth was educated in Addison schools and worked with her husband in their trucking business. She later worked as a CRMA in Refthaben Nursing Home for 25 years. She retired at the age of 72.

Elizabeth was married to Arnold Carroll Emerson for 59 years and they had four daughters. They also raised a grandson, Michael. Elizabeth was a devoted mother and grandmother and was very proud of her entire family.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Juanita Emerson of Addison, ME, Annette Emerson of Old Town, ME, and Lois Hall and her companion Joseph Dellorfano of Revere, MA. She is survived by 18 grandchildren, Harold (Skip), Michelle, Lisa, Glenn, Wade, Letitia, Ruth, Constance, Shane, Marcella, Ken, Timothy, Heidi, Beth, Aaron, Michael, Carroll, Amelia and over 50 great grandchildren and great great grandchildren combined. She is also survived by a very special cousin, Elizabeth (Betty) Smith.

She was predeceased by her parents, husband Arnold, daughter Alice Carol, grandson Rico, great grandbaby Michael, 2 sons in law, all of her brothers and sisters, and numerous aunts and uncles.

Family and friends are welcome to gather at the family home, 7 Emerson Lane in Jonesport, on Friday, July 31, 2015 between the hours of noon and 9 p.m.. Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday Aug. 1, 2015 at the Indian River Union Church in Addison.
