DAMARISCOTTA - Elizabeth A. Duncan, 97, formerly of Gardiner and Wiscasset died Friday, Oct 31, 2014, at the Coves Edge Nursing Facility in Damariscotta where she resided for the past two years.

She was born in Bucksport on February 19, 1917, a daughter of Thomas and Anna Sheehan McCann.

Elizabeth was educated in Bucksport schools and was a graduate of Farmington Normal School. She taught in Winterport, Maine where she met her future husband, Harold F. Duncan who she married in 1942. They resided in Presque Isle owning and operating a potato farm for over thirty years and then moved to Gardiner, Maine and later Wiscasset.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband; her brother, Daniel McCann; and her sisters, Jane Burpee and Eleanor Umphrey. She is survived by her three children, Sally Lausier and husband, Peter of Mobile, Alabama, Susanne Soule and her husband, Ray of Wiscasset, and John Duncan and his wife, Sally of Falmouth; her brother, Paul McCann of Bucksport; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 7, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church in Newcastle, Maine. The burial will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
