Eliza's Story

DOVER-FOXCROFT - Eliza K. Doore, 91, wife of the late John W. Doore, Jr., died September 7, 2014, at Pleasant Meadow Estates in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born September 19, 1922, in Easton, the daughter of Mansel and Harriet (Good) Kennedy. She was a devoted homemaker, sister, wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by two sons, Keith Doore and his wife, Maureen, of Dover-Foxcroft, and Glenn Doore and his wife, Cheryl, of Atkinson; two daughters, Sandra LaFerriere and her husband, Joel, of Windham, and Joyce Whalen and her late husband, Mike, of Sangerville; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers, Howard Kennedy, Clarence Kennedy, and a baby brother; and two sisters, Florence Lauder and Maxine White.

She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She loved being outdoors, picking berries and gardening. She also liked drawing and painting.

A graveside committal service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2014, in the Sweet Cemetery, Atkinson, with Pastor Stephen Dean officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals (MSSPA), PO Box 10, So. Windham, ME 04082. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home.
