BREWER - Eleanor R. Young, 84, beloved wife of James "Hoofer" Young, died Feb. 1, 2015 at a Brewer health care center after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 22, 1930 in Brewer, the daughter of Ralph W. and Christine (Hewes) Arey. Eleanor was a lifelong resident of Brewer and was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Brewer. She was active with the St. Teresa's Sodality and the Ave Maria Circle of the Daughters of Isabella. Eleanor was a warm and loving person who devoted her entire life to caring for others. She leaves behind a large family and extended family who will be forever grateful for her love and support. Eleanor loved her visits with friends and family over a cup of coffee and a piece of fudge.
Surviving are six children, Donna Young of Lawrence, MA, James Young and his wife, Cheryl of Orrington, Anna Josephine Anderson and her husband, Oren of Dedham, Connie Breau and her husband, Frank of Brewer, Charles "Chuck" Young of Bangor and Thomas Young and his wife, Dea of Powder Springs, Georgia; 22 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by eight sisters, Daphne MacNevin, Evelyn Rist, Vernice Sucy, Edith Curtis, Frances Carnahan, Cordelia Ranks, Annie Sullivan, Marjorie Campbell and one brother, Sidney Arey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Teresa's Catholic Church, South Main St., Brewer at a later date at a time to be announced. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to St. Teresa's Parish Center, c/o St. Paul the Apostle Parish, 207 York St., Bangor, ME 04401.
