Eldon's Story

NEWINGTON, CT - Eldon Lionel Albert, 87, of Newington, CT died on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Marjorie (Goodwin) Albert for 57 years. Born in Madawaska, ME, he graduated from Madawaska High School in 1948 and moved to Newington in 1961. Eldon served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked at Hamilton Standard and retired from the former General Elevator Corp, after 17 years. Eldon was a member of St. Mary's Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Legion of Mary. He was active in the Retreat League at the Holy Family Monastary in Farmington and served as former president of the New Britain Curia Legion of Mary. Eldon enjoyed fishing, telling stories (especially about how big those fish were) and researching genealogy. Besides his beloved wife, Marjorie, he leaves his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and Brian Szekeres and their two daughters, Jessica and Leah of Millington, NJ, his brother Gilbert Albert and his wife Carol of Huntington Beach, CA, Kathleen Audibert of Hampden ME and Theresa Albert of Bangor, ME as well as many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Edwin and his sisters Dolores and Carmen (Deschenes) Albert and a brother-in-law, James Goodwin. His Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, 9:00am., from Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00am at St. Mary's Church. He will be laid to rest, with military honors, in West Meadow Cemetary, Newtington. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Newington Memorial.
