Eldina's Story

ST. FRANCIS AND FORT KENT - Eldina McBreairty Jandreau, St. Francis and Fort Kent, passed away on May 8, 2015. Eldina was born in Allagash, Maine, February 28, 1930, the daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Hughes) McBreairty. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Alphandore Pat Jandreau. Eldina attended local schools in Allagash and Fort Kent, receiving her GED in 1977.

Eldina is survived by six children; Bella and husband Edmond Cyr of Wallagrass, Donna and husband Paul Madore of Fort Kent, Bennett Jandreau and wife Karen of St. Francis, Carolyn and husband Daniel Plourde, Bryan Jandreau and wife Randi, Sandy and husband Dan Pelletier, all of Fort Kent, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one sister, Beverly and her husband Roger Raymond of Wallagrass.

Eldina enjoyed reading books, magazines and the local newspaper, keeping in touch with distant family and friends on the Internet, knitting, spending time in the vegetable garden and caring for her many flowers. She also enjoyed snowmobiling, camping and family gatherings, especially the gatherings that involved picnics. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, weekend visits to her hometown of Allagash to visit and spend time with family, relatives and friends. Eldina's true passion was her children, experiencing life with and through them. After raising her family, Eldina worked at a number of professions including a clerk for the United States Postal Service, a medical secretary for the St. Francis Health Center, and as office manager for the St. Francis Development Corporation. After retirement, Eldina also worked part time for the St. Francis Water District. She was a supporter of local libraries; member of the St. Francis and Allagash Historical Societies as well as being active with the Northern Maine Medical Center Hospital Guild, the Ladies of St. Anne, St. Charles' and St. Paul's Catholic churches.

Friends may call May 13, Wednesday 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the Daigle Funeral home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent, Committal services will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations to the Northern Maine Medical Center Hospital Guild, 194 East Main Street, Fort Kent, Maine, 04743 may be made in memory of Eldina.
