- Elbridge E. Judkins, 79, passed away Feb. 5, 2017, at The Aroostook Medical Center surrounded by family. He was born Aug. 27, 1937, in Mapleton, the son of Ernest and Pauline (Daly) Judkins.
He graduated from Mapleton High School in 1954. He served in the US Navy from 1955-1959. The Navy provided his education in the electronics field. "Jud" worked 38 years at Maine Public Service retiring as manager of the electrical department. After he retired, he enjoyed many days at Squa Pan with his family and many rounds of golf with his golfing buddies. During his retirement, he became a self-taught and self-proclaimed chef extraordinaire. "Jud" was an avid fisherman and hunter which he shared his love of with his grandsons.
He is survived by three daughters; Beth Ann Jandreau and her companion Neil Oakes of Wrightville, ME, Jill Ireland and her husband Wayne of Mapleton, June Gallant and her husband Stephen of Madawaska Lake, a sister Deanna Bull of Vernon, CT, five grandchildren Abigail, Rebeckah, Lucas, Nicolas, and Hunter. Two great grandchildren Lucy and Clara, a sister in law Frances Whitten of Caribou and a special extended family of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his lifelong loving wife Paula Kay in 2011, a brother Ernest Judkins, and two sisters Joanne Tompkins and Jacquelyn Gardiner.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., May 12, 2017, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Interment with military honors will be at Southside Cemetery, Mapleton.
