Eileen's Story

MILLINOCKET - Eileen "Claire" Daigle 75, passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2015, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. She was born in Greenville, Maine on June 15, 1940, the daughter of Robert and Edith (Morrell) Jardine.

She graduated from Stearns High School in 1958 and Presque Isle Normal School in 1962 with a degree in elementary education. Claire married Terrence "Terry" Daigle on August 26, 1963. Beloved wife of Terry for 52 years, proud mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher and friend. Claire taught at the Granite Street School grades K-3 for 25 years. She accommodated the needs of the school system while touching the lives of students, parents, and faculty. Claire was given the gift of a new heart on January 25, 2006. She enjoyed countless numbers of concerts, games (football, basketball, tennis, baseball, softball & soccer), beauty pageants, dance recitals, graduations, Eagle Scout ceremony and any other activities that her grandchildren were participating in, always being their biggest fan. She was very involved in the Stearns Athletic Boosters since 1984 with Joan Cyr and remaining an integral part until 2015. Claire also loved watching her sons play football & hockey in high school and college. She could often be heard saying "Get over it." or, "Do you want some cheese to go with that whine?" and "Get a grip." Traveling brought her a great deal of happiness, especially with family and friends. She journeyed on numerous Royal Caribbean cruises, attended 16 Frozen Four tournaments, as well as annual trips to Red Sox's games. She took great pride in cooking and creating needlepoint projects for loved ones. Claire's faith was very important to her and she was very active within the First Congregational Church of Millinocket. She is survived by her husband Terry Daigle and sons Terrence Michael Jr and wife Patti of Rumford; Matthew and wife Ryan of Carmel; and Jason and wife Janet of Jay. Grandchildren Terrence Michael III, Seth and Hannah Daigle and their mother Debbie Daigle; Chris and Nikki Cayer with their mother Patti Daigle; Kris Daigle and his mother Kim Daigle, Aydan and Avery Rudolph and Rylee, with their mother Ryan Daigle; Joshua & Jordan Daigle of Jason and Janet. Brother Robert Jardine of Orrington, brother and sister-in-law Ronnie and Carol Daigle of Millinocket, sister-in-law Theresa Germain of Manchester, nephews and nieces, and many special friends. Claire was predeceased by her parents Robert and Edith Jardine, a brother Wayne Jardine and sister-in-law Vicky Jardine.

Friends are invited to visit with the family 4-7 PM, Thursday August 6, 2015 at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack Street, Millinocket. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday August 7, 2015 at the First Congregational Church of Millinocket, 274 Katahdin Avenue, Millinocket with the Rev. Terry Given, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery.
