Eeva's Story

BANGOR - Born January 15, 1967 in Millinocket, Maine, Eeva Kaarina Hedefine was the daughter of Alfred & Anja K Hedefine. She fell asleep in death on May 25, 2014 with her family at her side after a brief battle with cancer.

Eeva was the second of three children. She is survived by her mother and father, older brother and wife Eero & Marnie Hedefine, younger brother and wife Colin & Ksenia Hedefine, five nieces and nephews Ellen, Ian, Liam, Mia & Sonja Hedefine, two aunts Liisa Srholez & Eeva Huotari, two cousins and their families Joe, Keri, Ella & Fara Srholez and Winna, Marty, Marques & Devin Johnson as well as friends and colleagues too numerous to count. She was an active and happy member of the Bangor Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and considered the congregation an extension of her family. Eeva was known for her willing spirit, her hospitality and the delicious food she would prepare. She would always bring a gift of food to any congregational gathering or spontaneously to her workmates. Her nephews and nieces will especially miss her homemade ice cream cake. We will all miss her smile.

Eeva graduated from Sumner Memorial High School and then the University of Maine with Bachelors and Masters degrees in Spatial Engineering. She worked for the James W. Sewall Company in Old Town, Maine. Her colleagues soon became her friends and an extension of her family.

Eeva will be greatly missed by all who knew her. During her life and illness she and her family gained great strength and support from her faith, our spiritual brotherhood and her hope for the future. A memorial service will be held at the Bangor Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses located at 2029 Broadway at 2 PM on June 7, 2014. Her burial will be private.
