- Edwina Ledwine (Lavoie) Thibault, 91, passed away July 27, 2017 at a Bangor health care facility after a period of declining health. She was born May 5, 1926, in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, the daughter of Nizier Lavoie and Marie Anne (Michaud) Lavoie. She married Edward Thibault May 7, 1948. Together, Edwina and Edward raised seven children.
She is survived by six children, John and his wife Karen of Portland, OR; Edith and her husband Larry Brown of Lewiston; Edward and his wife Gail; David and his wife Karen of Old Town; Lisa and her husband James Budge of Milford; and Michelle and her husband George Collins of Bradley. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lucien Lavoie and his wife Ann; and a sister Theresa Degrasse, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Edward, a daughter Linda Violette and a son-in-law, Bill Violette. The family would like to thank all of Edwina's friends at Penobscot Terrace as well as the staff of Ross Manor and Beacon Hospice who cared for her in her last few weeks.
Edwina's wish was to have no viewing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at St. Anne's Church, Bradley, with a light luncheon to follow interment. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Bradley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parish of The Resurrection Building Fund, 429 Main St., Old Town, ME 04468 or a charity of one's choice.
