MILFORD AND LUBEC - Edward I. Myers, 80, passed away peacefully April 7, 2016 surrounded by his family at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor. He was born August 17, 1935, son of Earl and Mildred (Mitchell) Myers.
Edward left high school and joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War. Following his service he worked for Lubec Light Company, Cutler Naval Station and continued his career in Adak, Alaska military base until he retired in 1991. Edward and his wife moved home to Maine, residing in Milford and wintering in Bunell, Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife Barbara (Gardner) Myers; their two sons and daughter, Wade Myers and wife Mary of Veazie, Randy Myers and wife Iris Sue of Berry Township, Terry Ann Legere Kent and husband Ben of North Dakota; his twin brother Edwin Myers of Old Town; and his adored grandchildren Nathaniel Myers and wife Jennifer, Nicholas Myers, Kayla and husband James Libby, all of Veazie, Dallas Travis and Bo Travis of North Dakota; five very special Great-Grandchildren Maddox, Aislynn, Makenna, Stanton and Sawyer; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his sister MaryAnn. He will be greatly missed by all.
There will be a celebration of his life 11AM Wednesday April 13, 2016 at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St. Old Town, Maine with a memorial reception to follow. Interment will be at a later date, with military honors, and the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta.
