Edward's Story

Hampden - Edward Murphy, 69, died August 9, 2016, following a brief illness.
Ed was a graduate of Hampden Academy and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a life-long resident of Hampden, serving for many years as a fireman, a member of the town council, and was one of the founding members of Hampden Children's Day. Following his retirement from the Hampden Fire Department, he became co-owner of Blue Hill Pyrotechnics and Limousine Companies. At the time of his death, he was a driver for Maine Chauffered Services.
Surviving are a brother, John of Orrington; and several nieces and nephews. He will be fondly remembered by his business partner and friend, Rick Briggs; and Michael and Donna MacDonald.
A Celebration of Life service for Ed will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at East Orrington Congregational Church, 38 Johnson Mill Road, Orrington. Interment with military honors will be held at a later date at Maine Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.
