- Edna Frances Harriman Madden, 79, of Greenfield, passed away May 13, 2017, at home. She was born November 7, 1937, in Lincoln, the daughter of Winfield and Alice (West) Harriman. She grew up in Edinburg and was a 1956 Graduate of PVHS and a graduate of Husson College. Edna married Stephen Madden July 31, 1960, and lived the rest of her life in Greenfield.
Edna is survived by her daughters Julie Eugley and her husband Reggie, and Wanda Madden and Justin Fallon both of Greenfield. Four grandchildren; David and his wife Brittani Eugley, Rachel Eugley and Andrew Lane, Daniel Legere, Janelle Legere and Ryan Jack, along with many nieces, nephews and her companion, Jingles the Cat.
Her husband, parents, and brother Robert Harriman predeceased her.
Edna enjoyed gardening, watching the birds, sitting in her front yard, reading books, puzzles, games, picking berries, four wheeling, eating at Burr's Store, antiques, yard sales, digging for bottles, luncheons with old classmates at the 95'er Diner in Howland, and treasure hunting. She especially enjoyed visits from a very special nephew, Galen and his wife Jill Quint of Hodgdon.
She worked in her earlier years at UMO Library and Dunham Hanson Company. After she raised her children, Edna babysat for many different families and retired as the housekeeper for Stephen and Tabitha King.
The family would like to give special thanks to Susan Yanush and Dick Watson who checked in with her often over the last few years.
Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Crocker Turn Road Cemetery, Greenfield. Donations in her memory may be made to American Diabetes Association. Condolences may be expressed at www.clayfuneralhome.com.
