WINDSOR, CONN. - Earl E. Mushroe, 81, of Windsor, CT, beloved husband of Melva (Lanigan) Mushroe, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada to the late Ernest and Mildred (McDowell) Mushroe, he was raised in Princeton, and graduated from the University of Maine Orono with a degree in mechanical engineering.
Throughout his career he was involved in the pulp and paper industry, working over 40 years for Georgia Pacific Corporation. Earl served his country proudly as a Lieutenant in the US Army and was a member of St. Gabriel Church in Windsor where he served as a Eucharistic minister. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge as well as the American Legion. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, fishing and photography, but most important was spending time with his family who will miss him dearly.
Besides his wife, Melva of Windsor, CT, he is survived by his sons, Michael Mushroe and his wife, Cynthia of Spring Lake, MI, Peter Mushroe and his wife, Frances of East Taunton, MA, and Alan Mushroe of Cambridge, MA; his daughter, Aimee MacGillivray and her husband, Donald, of Windsor, CT; his grandchildren, Kathleen O'Brien and her husband, Daniel, Robert, Thomas, Erin, Brendan and Kevin Mushroe, and Ross and Tyler McGillivray; and his great-grandchildren, Liam and Lillian O'Brien.
A memorial mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 4 at St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St., Windsor, CT. Burial will be held in Maine at the convenience of the family.
