Durwood's Story

CHARLESTON - Durwood L. Thompson, 81, the husband of Linda (Lyford) Thompson, went home to be with his Lord on Dec. 25, 2015 at his home in Charleston. He was born Dec.20,1934 in Medway, the son of Otho Stanley and Eula Thompson.

He attended Medway High School and served in the US Army receiving an honorable discharge Jan 28,1958. He had worked for SAD #68 as a bus driver and custodian for 35 years, retiring Dec.31 2002.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 49 years are seven children, Leroy Finson and his wife, Heidi of Charleston, Lydia Brown of Medway, Wade Finson and his partner, Micheala Vish of Frankfort, Billie-Jo Hunter of Millinocket, Lisa Marshall and her husband, Ron of Dover-Foxcroft, Jerry Thompson and his wife, Cindy and Regina Thompson, all of Charleston; eight grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; six siblings, Gary Thompson, Dwayne Stanley, Ossie Stanley, Charlie Stanley, Priscilla Farrington and Charlene Bunker; a special uncle, Tash Stanley and a special sister-in-law, Brenda Bowden; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the Bradford Baptist Church 2 PM Saturday, Jan 2, 2016 where friends may call from 1 PM until time of service with Rev. Donald Booker officiating. Family and friends are invited to join in celebration of his life at the Church following the service. Cremation arrangements are in the care of Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth.
