Dr. James's Story
Dr. James G. Flanagan, III passed away at his home in Roque Bluffs, Maine on July 15, 2016 at the age of 85. He was born in Manhattan, the son of James and Helen (Sheehan) Flanagan, Jr.
James earned his BS degree from St Bonaventure University and then went on to serve as a Lieutenant in the US Army. In 1960 he received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from Farleigh Dickinson Dental School and pursued perfection in his Ossining NY practice for 30 years.
James married Dolores Perez in 1960 settling in Ossining, NY. They raised four boys, James IV (Jane) of Hopewell Junction, NY, Mark of Seward AK, John (Dawn) of East Granby, CT and Christopher (Karine) of Mahopac, NY. He had eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. His incredible wit and love for family will leave a huge void.
A visitation is scheduled for Friday, July 22 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 23 at 10:00 am at St. Theresa's Church in Briarcliff Manor, NY. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery in Brewster.
