Douglas Wayne Elkins, 68, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, in his sleep at home.
He was born Dec. 23, 1947, in Newport, ME; the son of Bessie (Tompkins) and Burns W. Elkins, Sr.
Doug graduated Stearns H.S. and EMTC and attended Tri Town Baptist Church. He lived and worked in Pittsfield, Portland, and Millinocket as a Computer Analyst in the Millinocket and East Millinocket paper Mills.
He loved his camps in Burlington and Lincoln, ATV riding, computer games, creating a train and slot car track layout, gardening at the East Terrace guardrail, and a connoisseur of music. He volunteered at the Tri Town Baptist Church Food Bank.
Douglas is survived by his fiancé Ann Warren; his son Anthony; brother Burns Jr.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be especially missed by his neighbors Uncle Bill and Norma Waye. He is predeceased by his mother and father; sister Pauline, and brothers Robert, Lawrence, and Dean.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday Aug. 23 at the Tri Town Baptist Church, East Millinocket with Pastor David Blaisdell officiating.
