- Dorris N. Dodge, 82, died unexpectedly December 22, 2016, in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. She was born in Bangor on April 25, 1934, to Fremont and Estella Nickerson (Vibert).
She grew up in Amherst and Somesville where she met and married her husband of 30 years, Robert L. Dodge Sr. of Northeast Harbor. They raised their family in Northeast Harbor where she also worked for Brooke Astor, The Asticou Inn and then Husson College and retired from Amnex Corporation in Boca Raton, Fla.
She was a compassionate, generous person with an amazing sense of humor. She was known for her beautiful smile, cheerful attitude and helpfulness toward others. She loved music, playing the piano, singing, dancing, politics, travel, old movies, Broadway and New York City! In her later years she worked on crossword puzzles every day while having her morning cup of coffee. Her largest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren. She wintered in Florida and summered in Maine enjoying many memorable picnics by the Sea.
She was predeceased by her parents; grandson, Barry Smallidge; and her siblings, Ermund Vibert, Edward Atkins, Freda Young, Douglas Shaw and Kathryn Sites.
She is survived by her children, Kay Lynn Tolstrup, Bobby Dodge and his wife, Anne, Michelle Dodge Hawthorne, Penny Baker and her husband, Alan, Sally Ballenger and her husband, Louis; her grandchildren, Arthur Smallidge Jr. and his life partner, Robbie, Jeremiah Smallidge, Stacie Dodge, Edward Dodge and his wife, Yulia, Melissa Dodge, Jonathan Hawthorne, Jillian Baker, Claire Baker and one great-granddaughter, Lizzie Dodge; many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017, at St Patrick's Episcopal Church, 21 Holyoke St., Brewer.
