- Dorothy 'Dolly' H. (Hunnewell) Rhoades, 100, a life long resident of Westminster, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, at her daughter's residence, after a brief illness.
Her husband of 23 years, Guy O. Rhoades, died in 1959.
She leaves two daughters, Ardeen 'Deenie' Burgess of Gardner, MA, with whom she lived and Gloria Wheritt of Patoka, IL; four grandchildren, Joanna Allen and her husband David of Hubbardston, Philip Burgess Jr. and his wife Michelle of Lawrenceville, NJ, Lisa Wheritt of Salem, IL, and John Wheritt of Kentucky; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and several special nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers and one sister.
Dorothy was employed as a Payroll Clerk at the former Seth Thomas Associates in Fitchburg for 25 years.
She was a 1934 graduate of Woodland High School, now known as Baileyville High School in Maine, where she served as Valedictorian of her senior class. She was the oldest living member by age of the First Congregational Church of Westminster since 1960. She was a member of the Westminster Friendship Club, the Walkers of Westminster Club, walking until 5 years ago, was a Descendant of the Mayflower, and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and enjoyed knitting.
Dolly was born in Topsfield, ME, on July 17, 1916, a daughter of the late Howard Morton and Cora (Scribner) Hunnewell.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. in the First Congregational Church of Westminster, 138 Main St., Westminster. Rev. Raymond Medeiros will officiate.
Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Westminster, MA.
Calling hours at the First Congregational Church are on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

The Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 123 Main St. Westminster, is directing funeral arrangements.
