Bangor - Dorothy Jean Merrill, 73, of Hampden, ME passed away peacefully on December 25, 2016, surrounded by friends and family. Jean, as she was known, was an unconventional woman who will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor. A woman of many interests and hobbies, she loved her family and friends, music, animals and the New York Giants. Jean was deeply patriotic and and was proud to have voted in the last election. She was active in the Civil Air Patrol Auxiliary for many years. A truck driver for 40 years, she retired from Kraft Foods. Jean loved riding her motorcycle and rode until she was 69 years old. She is survived by her children, Steven Bentley of Vernon, CT, Lorry Beltram and husband Charles, of Fort Worth, TX, Sharon Bentley of Meriden, CT, Robert Bentley and wife Beth, of Rockland, ME, 15 grand children and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Charlie, Jim, Kay and Barbara. She is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Evelyn Hughes and her husband, Frank Merrill. Special thanks to Sunbury Village, Beacon Hospice and her caretakers, Melinda Manjourea and Brenda Theriault.

At Jeans's request, we will have a Celebration of Life on her birthday, March 10, 2017, at Sunbury Village, 922 Ohio St, Bangor, ME at 2:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to attend.
