JONESPORT - Dorothy Look, wife of Oscar W. Look of Jonesport, passed away Aug. 13, 2015, in Jonesport. Dorothy was born Feb. 25, 1924, in Brunswick, the daughter of Katharine Melcher Fish and Lynn Fish.
Dorothy grew up in Brunswick and Jonesboro, where she attended local schools. She graduated from University of Maine in Farmington in 1944, and completed graduate work at Simmons College. In her career she taught school at Gould Academy in Bethel and Jonesport High School. She married Oscar W. Look on Dec. 27, 1947, in Jonesboro. Dorothy was very active with The Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) holding various offices including State Regent. She attended many of the D.A.R. national conferences in Washington, D.C. Dorothy spent many summers with her family on Schoodic Lake. She thoroughly enjoyed reading and tending to her gardens.
Dorothy was survived by daughters, Katharine Look of Jonesport, Dorinda Johnson and husband, Raymond, of Aloha, Oregon, and Patricia Look of Bangor; sons, Edward Look of Addison and Charles Look and wife, Laura, of Ellsworth; stepson, Oscar Look and wife, Mary Lou, of Beals; her sister, Frances Morang of Jonesport; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Oscar Look; daughter, Deborah Crowley; and brother, Richard Fish.
People wishing to donate in Dorothy's behalf may donate to The Ark Animal Shelter in Cherryfield or think of her when you read a good book. There will be a private family service at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Machias.
