ELLSWORTH - Dorothea Lucile Randell Lapaire, age 86, went to be with the Lord November 7, 2014.
She was born on March 9, 1929 at (East)Hartford, Maine, second child of George and Goldie (Lander) Randell.
Dottie attended elementary school in East Wilton, Maine, next to the Baptist Church that her family attended. She graduated from Wilton Academy, and from Gordon College of Theology and Missions in Wenham, MA. She was a part of the Gordon Choir for all four years, where she met her husband. Her happiest memories growing up and as a young woman were the times she was singing. She was an organized, creative, and constant correspondent with many people.
She married George Lapaire on June 14, 1952 in East Wilton. They moved several times in MA and ME, looking for work and educational opportunities for George, with their 3 children. For some time in Westminster, MA they crammed a weeks groceries, a weeks laundry, 3 children and themselves into a VW Bug.
In her later years, she painstakingly collected family information, and compiled genealogies, for Georges family in France and Switzerland, and her family Lander, Randell, and Withee, creating many typewritten pages and volumes.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years George Joseph Lapaire; brother Herbert and his wife Jean ; daughter Janet, her husband Mark and their children Simon and Leah; son John Mark Lapaire, his wife Deb, and their children Carrie and Joe; son Paul Stephen Lapaire, his wife Dee, and their children Megan and Caley; great-grandchildren Analise, Emma and Amelia; and relatives in the Lapaire family. She was predeceased by her parents, brother John (1944) and brother Frank (2013).
A Memorial service will be held at the United Baptist Church, 28 Hancock St., Ellsworth, at 10 am Thursday, with reception to follow.
Dottie would encourage you to reach out to family and friends with a card or a visit or a phone call.
We are so grateful for the loving care given by CHCS, Hospice of Hancock County, and for the support of her church family.
Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Willton.
