Millinocket - Doris M. (Richards) Coon, 84, passed away surrounded by family on July 5, 2017 at Millinocket Regional Hospital. She was born on March 18, 1933, in Oakfield, Maine, the daughter of Cecil and Clara (Grondin) Richards.
Mom worked for many years in the Millinocket Nursing Home and later in home health care. She never retired because she was such a care giver her entire life. Mom enjoyed her family, canning, loved camping, swimming, and was a fantastic cook and made beautiful cakes. Mom will be remembered as a beautiful spirit with a love for life and family that was unending. An enviable quality of always finding the best in any situation or person that she met. She was proud to tell stories of growing up in Norcross where she attended a one room school house before moving to East Millinocket.
She was predeceased by her husband Ronald, daughter Mary, grandson Travis; sisters: Jeanette, Priscilla, Evelyn "Tootie" and Dale; brothers: Don, Harold, and Austin "Spike." She is survived by her partner of many years Donald Murray, brother John Richards and wife Denise, brothers-in-law; Leon Markie and Jimmy Naaykins, and sisters-in-law Claudine Coon and Ida Jones, children; Lorena Otis and Phil Roy, Jane and husband Fred Boyer, Ronald and wife Debra, Larry and wife Kelly, Joel and wife, Paula, Audrey and husband Steve Sherwood, Terri and husband Joe Turcotte, Corey and wife Kelly, son-in-law Joe Gagnon. She not only had nine children, she has 23 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, and many cherished nieces, nephews and special friends.
Visiting hours will be held 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2017 and from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Tuesday, July 11, 2017 all at Calvary Temple-Assembly of God, 2 Orchard Street, East Millinocket, where funeral services will follow at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Condolences may be expressed at www.clayfuneralhome
