Doris's Story

OLD TOWN - Doris Norine (Harmon) Borgen, 93, passed away peacefully March 29, 2016, surrounded by her daughters at a Bangor hospital. Doris was born in Old Town September 7, 1922, the daughter of Edgar L. Harmon and Ethel E. Freese.

Doris lived her whole life in Old Town, graduating from Old Town High School in 1940 and after graduation she went to work for one of the local shoe shops. Doris was full of energy and enjoyed music, going out dancing, and playing the piano. She was very much a country person; growing up in Argyle, there was only one thing she enjoyed more than the beauty and peacefulness of nature, and that was her family. Doris was a descendant of the Freese's who were the first settlers of Old Town.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Alice Carleton of Rochester, MI, and Karen Boutin and her husband, Paul, of Cinncinati, OH; grandchildren, Laura Bagley and husband, Ken, Andrew Carleton and wife, Amanda, Adam Wolf and wife, Jessica; and great-grandchildren, Evan, Nicholas, Blake, Claire, Ella Grace and Benjamin. She was predeceased by a brother, Earl Harmon; sister, Alta Wyman; and special friend, Robert Dunn Sr.

Friends may call Saturday, April 2, 2016, from 9 a.m. to time of service at 10 a.m. at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town.
