Donna's Story

BLAINE - Donna C. Dzierzynski, 66, passed away May 4, 2015, at Mars Hill nursing home facility, with her family and friends by her side. She was born September 23, 1948, the daughter of William and Eva (Tardy) Cowperthwaite.

She was a graduate of Presque Isle High School, class of 1966. Donna worked as a telephone operator for many years at New England Telephone. She made many lifelong friends there. She met the love of her life, John, in 1968, and they married in 1970. She worked for N.E.T. until 1972. She lived in the Machias area for 32 years and was involved in several jobs doing bookkeeping, including Shoppee's Dairy and Hanscom Construction Company. She was first selectman for 24 years for the town of Marshfield and worked on the budget with Christine Therien for the town of Machias for many years. She and John returned to Aroostook County and resided in Blaine for the remainder of her life. She worked for Dr. Olugbemi at the Mars Hill Health Center until her retirement in 2011.

Donna is survived by her husband of 44 years, John Dzierzynski; a sister, Carol Cowperthwaite of Mars Hill; a close friend, Joey Ginn and wife, Stacey, of Mars Hill; a sister-in-law, Mary-Jo Hebble and her husband, Larry, of Lakeland, FL; sister-in-law, Dorothy Emberlee and Jim of Sparta, TN; brother-in-law, Michael Dzierzynski of Escondido, CA.; and sister-in-law, Margaret Dzierzynski of San Marcos, TX. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews aunts and uncles, including longtime friends, Linda Shaw and Linda Berube. She was predeceased by her parents; and one brother, Merle Cowperthwaite, in 2014.

Friends and family may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 12 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mars Hill, on Saturday, May 9, 2015. A reception will follow after the Mass. Arrangements are by Faye Funeral Home.
