MOLUNKUS TWP - Donald Arvah Thompson, 84, passed away on Sept. 30, 2015, in Bangor, with his family close by. He was born in Howland on Sept. 8, 1931, to Maurice and Glenys (Myrick) Thompson.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, deployed on the USS Wasp. He worked as an electrician at Great Northern in Millinocket for 33 years until his retirement. He enjoyed being in the outdoors and spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by 1 brother, 4 sisters and his sons-in-law. He is survived by his companion, Marlene; his sons and their wives, Gene and Maureen, Donald and Daphne, Andrew and Verbena; his daughter, Amy; 2 brothers and a sister. He also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins who loved him very much.
At Donald's request, there will be no funeral. There will be a celebration of his life at the Lowell Community Center, W. Old Main Rd., Lowell, on Saturday, Oct. 3. at 2 p.m.
