DETROIT - Donald Richard Neal, 79, died January 15, 2016 at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 12, 1936 in St. Albans, the youngest son of Gilbert and Iva (Seekins) Neal.
He graduated from Hartland Academy, Class of 1954. Donald proudly served our country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam era. He retired from Bentley College in Mass and also worked at Ames Department Store in Newport after moving to Detroit.
He was a longtime member and honorary member of the Detroit Fire Department. He also belonged to the American Legion and the Detroit Historical Society. He and his wife also enjoyed traveling.
Donald is survived by his wife of 15 years, Jean Neal of Detroit; sons Ritchie and Michael of Detroit; daughter Katrinajo Sullivan of Salisbury, MA; a brother, Paul and wife Barbara Neal of Rochester, NY; a sister, Beverly (Neal) Martin and husband Raymond of Hartland; a sister in law, Doris Neal of Detroit; step children Everett and wife Theresa McGinnis, Sally Brewer, and Kim McGinnis; grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife Helene (Chamberlain) Neal, and three brothers, Wesley, Oren and Jack.
Graveside committal services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, May 21st, at Detroit Village Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 until 10:30 A.M. at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport. Those who wish may leave written condolences at
