MARS HILL - Dolores Ina Pierce, 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 6, 2016. She was born in Mars Hill on April 11, 1927, daughter of Israel W. and Hilda (Dunphy) Kinney.
Dolores was a homemaker for many years, raising five children. She later worked outside the home, working for A.R. Gould Memorial Hospital, in the billing and emergency departments. She also worked for two special physicians, Dr. Sanders Burstein and Dr. Robert Shaw, as well as other physicians. She was a longtime active member of the United Baptist Church in Mars Hill.
She was a loving and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family dearly and loved spending time with them, including all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and always attended as many of their activities as possible.
She is survived by her children, Kristi Alexander and her husband, Robert, of Ellsworth, Peter and his wife, Rattiya, of Mars Hill, Paul of Mars Hill, and Jill Hotham and her husband, Chuck, of Westfield; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and sister-in-law, Sybil Pierce. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Franklin Pierce, on June 27, 2014. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Brenda Ruhlin; grandson, Robert Alexander Jr.; sister, Irene Graham; and brothers-in-law, Fred Graham, Sylvanus Pierce and Wendell Pierce.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caretakers who helped us take care of our mom, during her difficult illness.
Friends may call at the United Baptist Church in Mars Hill on Saturday, June 11, from 1 to 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held immediately after with Pastor Mitch Ross officiating. Interment will be at Kings Grove Cemetery in Mars Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Baptist Church Missions, P.O. Box 382, Mars Hill, ME 04758.
