Dolores's Story

BANGOR - Dolores "Dody" E. Carr, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 12, 2015, at her son's home in Otis, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on May 13, 1934, the daughter of Herbert and Mary (McLeod) Davies. She married Homer Carr in 1953 and they shared 60 wonderful years together.

Dody lived her life for her Lord, her family and her church. She was a member of Glad Tidings Church in Bangor and was an attendee for over 70 years. She taught Sunday School to the two and three year olds for many years, faithfully assisted in the kitchen, helped prepare weekly communion and assisted in preparing for several water baptisms. She and Homer had a daily devotional life together and would not go about their daily routine until they had spent time with the Lord.

Dody was so very proud of her granddaughter, Jenna. They shared a very special bond. She was delighted when her family started their business, Dirigo Counseling Clinic, and was their most faithful promoter. She was a loving wife, devoted mother and an adoring grandmother. Her life was lived for others and she will be lovingly missed and remembered.

She is survived by her husband, Homer Carr, of Bangor; children, Karen Algee and husband, Alan, Wayne Carr and Jill Peters and husband, Jody, all of Otis; granddaughter, Jenna Algee and her husband, Vernon Gigure, of Pawtucket, RI; her namesake niece, Dolores Gramley of San Antonio, Texas; and other nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Herbert Davies; and sister, Sharon Davies.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 24, at the Glad Tidings Church, 1033 Broadway, in Bangor, with the Rev. Ron Morris officiating. A gathering will follow in the fellowship hall. All are welcome.
